Helos

Helos is the Second of the Eight Cities and is named the ‘City of Gold’. This city is inhabited by mostly merchants and people who have services to sell. The center of economy in Latriel, just about every gold coin has been to Helos at least once. Major organizations such as Bahamut and the Dammr Haus have headquarters here. This city is home to as many criminals as merchants and if you are ever looking for anything, Helos is the place to be. The leader, Viscount Eredar Galliwyx, has been described as greedy and pompous but he has created more income and gold than anyone else in Latriel ever has.

The different districts of Helos are as follows:

Azlanti Keep: The Keep was named after the first Viscount and is now the residence of Viscount Eredar Galliwyx. Adorned with the fanciest and most expensive popular wear and culture, this Keep is a sight to behold.

Wise Quarter: Although the City of Gold is economically focused, does not mean that knowledge goes unwanted. Because of the resources in Helos, a lot of scholars and researchers are assigned here under wealthy nobles to do research of a specific kind. This is where their lodgings are.

Ivy District: The Ivy District is the district where the nobles and knights reside, although not as powerful as the nobles in Naltaris they are richer, if not just as rich. Willing to pay to get anything they want, the nobles of Helos drive a hard bargain and expect excellence for the gold they pay.

Ascendant Court: The Ascendant Court is where the dealings that Viscount Galliwyx does not have the time to deal with, or just plainly doesn’t want to do them. Judges and juries are regular duty here and because of it the merchants extort every copper in their pockets to gain an advantage.

The Petal District: The entertainment district or as others call the Red Light District, any time of fun you want can be found here. From brothels to gambling halls, saunas to sports games.

Westgate: The entrance into the western side of town, it is filled with ‘tourist’ shops that sell over-priced non-valuable items in hopes that the merchants or potential victims don’t get far enough into the city.

Foreign Quarter: The district that has been nicely named the ‘Foreign Quarter’ is actually the enclave for Elves. Poorly treated although allowed to live and govern their own district, the Foreign Quarter is a rather poverty stricken place.

The Coins: The district that most guilds are located, the service industry of the City of Gold, adventurers can find jobs, or request favors here.

Merchants Quarter: The main gathering place for most merchants and potential buyers. The Sapphire Festival is mainly head here. If you are looking for anything, it’s probably here.

Eastgate: The entrance into the eastern side of town, it is filled with ‘tourist’ shops that sell over-priced non-valuable items in hopes that the merchants or potential victims don’t get far enough into the city.

The Puddles: A residential quarter that is often struck with floods and because of that has been abandoned to the poor and the homeless. Very much like a ghetto, most crime syndicates and organizations are located here. If you are looking for an assassin or a hit man, here is your place.

Docks: One of the main ways merchants get to Helos, and how goods are transferred quickly to places that do not have access to monorail. Gigantic boats are able to dock here and if you are looking to purchase a boat, here is where you find the Galleons.

Precipice Quarter: The Precipice Quarter is a mainly residential community that ends off a steep cliff, houses are lost by the month. A fun past time for most Helos’ citizens is diving from the cliff with an elastic chord, simulating free fall.

Fort Tempest: The Fort overlooking The Big Sea and is the main fort that holds the entrance into Helos by ship.

Shoreline: An outlying district that focuses mostly on lumber for Helos. Carpenters and construction workers mostly live there.

Westerhold: An outlying district that focuses mostly on agriculture for Helos. Farmers and miller mostly live there.

Copperwood: An outlying district that focuses mostly on agriculture for Helos. Farmers and millers mostly live there.
